Default e fan problem

my gf has a 2004 3.8l v6 with a wierd problem. the electric fan isnt coming on. the temp meter runs to half way point and a little past an it dosent come on. i already checked fuses and replaced a circuit breaker that is supposed to be for the fan and still nothing. the fan however does work because i tried to connect it directly to a battery and it worked....any ideas? is there some sort of thermostat switch or something?

the car hasnt overheated becauase we turn it off once we c it get passed the half way mark on the temp gauge, and i looked on the manual and it is a circuit breaker fuse that it codes for for the fan. if it was one of the major realys wouldnt it also effect other functions as well?

If I remember correctly, turn the AC to MAX and that should turn the fan on. If it doesnt work, take that with a grain of salt because it never worked on either of mine (95, 96) :P

Being a 2004 it has two sending units if I remember correctly (Theres that phrase again :P ) one for the guage cluster and one for the ECU.

My 2000 3.8L that I bought has two sending units where my 95 and 96 only have 1.

I had the temp sending unit on the driver side head go out/i broke it and the fan would come on the second I cranked the car and stayed on until I turned the car off.
