this is my first car so its a piece of work still. i just replaced my rack and pinion because one of the boots were leaking. after i replaced it my car was making this weird humming noise. was told it would go away. one month later its still making the noise. is my power steering pump in need of replacement?

 

humming noise? most mustangs have bad power steering pumps that will make noise. It is nothing major. Just one of those things you have to tune out unless it bothers you that much...but thats if it is the power steering pump and not something else.
Where is the noise coming from?

 

its not that important really but it just takes away from the engine. just seein if there was a way to get rid of the sound. i havent really gotten my head up under the hood to detect where its really coming from and when ur like ten ft away its just loud enough to where u cant detect it.
