It depends on the condition of the surrounding paint, the color, and the age. Mines a mineral gray 2002 and I took off the rocker stripes and the pin stripes with no discoloration problems. Just wash and wax it really good afterwards.

To get them off, it's best to do it on a hot day and have a hair dryer to heat it up even more. Get an Exacto knife and CAREFULLY get a little peel started. Keep it going by using the hair dryer and peeling slowly. There will be a little glue residue... I used bug and tar remover and it was a bitch, but I heard Gojo (WITHOUT the pumice ****) works really good.

i used goo gone and a razor blade on mine, very carefully, and just left the mustang letters,
even thought i take care of the paint and it lookes pretty decent, i could tell how much work it needs when i tool the rocker stripes off
Its an easy fix those, and its barely noticeable when you do it
I also moved my spoiler back to give it that "roush" look and it left paint spots that i need to fix

You should be able to peel them off without a heat gun. Either that, or use a razor blade or putty knife, but be careful with that method. If you cut your clearcoat you will be in a world of hurt. Best method would be peeling it off or using an eraser wheel. The vinyl decals don't use too crazy of an adhesive like some other vehicles would.

Cool thanks for the good advice from all of you. I'm a white convertible with a tan top and tan decals with 20% tinted windows. Now picturing that in your head do you think it will look better with or without the rocker decals?

OMG! y would u put a razor blade to your car ehhhh sry if your going to do this Avoid sharp objects. If it comes off with out a heat gun great but if its on there good like mine was then a heat gun/ hair dryer will assist in the quick removal and without residue.
