Default 1998 electrically dead

alternator was suspected bad, it was replaced along with the battery and it worked until today and the guy went home for lunch and when he went back out to go back to work it didn't bong when the door was open the lights on the dash weren't there the headlights wiper etc. do not work anymore. nothing electrical works at all.

I checked the battery and it has power, I checked the hot lead on the alternator and the power was there, and from there I don't get it....the whole thing wouldn't be controlled by the alternator would it?
