Default Super Coil Question aka....HELP!

Hey all,

First time posting so be gentle.

So I just spent a pretty penny on some new ignition mods: MSD wire, Good quality spark plugs, and a Accel Supercoil and for the life of me I can't figure out how to install the supercoil. Is anyone running with this? (I've heard it's a really common mod.) And if so can you tell me how you did it? Pictures would be awesome if you were so inclined.

Thanks guys!

Here's the Link to it SuperCoil

Notice it says Perfect for stock engines. I know it's not going to give me a whole lot of anything, but I've heard people talk about a better response time while accelerating. So I figured why not.

There are 4 bolts (8 mm I believe?) on the driver's side of the upper intake manifold. Remove them, take off the old coil pack, and then put your new one on.

Its not too bad to put on...Here is what I would do. First, mark every original wire, just out a piece or tape around it.... Ex) Top Left, Top Mid., Top Right, Bottom LEft. etc...then unplug them all, remove the 4 bolts and the eletrical connector, and wa-lah.

And personally I would change the plugs and wires ONE AT A TIME to make sure they go in the right place...

+1

Mine got out of order when I swapped the pack out. The misfire may give you the classic "muscle car shake" but its not something you want happening to your motor.

yeah u get that muscle car shake but i bet you cant get over 30 mph hahaha i had a wire break on me once and flooring it with my mods i could get over 30mph missing one wire. sounded like a$$ too one other important note is make sure you got the right connector style because there's a horizontal and a vertical style, they aren't interchangeable

This.
If you're not at a point where you need more bump in spark, return it and spend the money other places.

hey guys thanks for the help.

One of the problems is the mounting. The supercoil has four bolt mounting system while the stock coil is a tripod. Here's some links to explain better.

Stock

Supercoil

Notice also the wiring harness receptor is a different shape...I'm almost fed up with the part. I've heard that this mod is super quick and easy and lots of people have it, so i figured I'd try my luck on the forums. I think I might return it and just take my money with me to Vegas tomorrow.

And I already changed out the sparks and wires, my idle is back to normal now.

It's called, they sold you a part that won't work on your car. 01+ has a different ignition system than the 99-00.

Keep things simple, MSD wires, NGK TR5 plugs, and motorcraft coilpack.
