Welcome to the site. I'd also check the TPS & EGR valve.I have some EGR valves in stock if that ends up being the issue.

4.6 Mustang EGR Valve

Hey Tony, he drives a v6 not a 4.6 and its a 99.

Don't be surprised if the tach is a little off, it happens. BUT that isn't going to CAUSE your car to not idle right. Is it a smooth idle? Do you have any other driving issues?

i have an 89 gt and i have a idle problem as well. at cold start, she runs fine with the check engine light ON. when she gets warm, the check engine light goes off and she runs at 2000 rpm for about 5 seconds in every gear then she goes back to regular idle. i already replaced the egr valve, the egr position sensor, the IAC, and the Throttle positioning sensor. WHAT THE HELL????

sometimes its smooth but most of the timeit starts shaking the car and before it started idleing low she used to idle at 2000 alot more than shes supposed to like after its warmed up but now it just idles low and wants to cut off

First off as I tell everyone, do a tune up first and see what happens, fuel filter, plugs, wires, everything and see how it runs. Get some MAF cleaner and clean that and take your EGR valve off and clean that out and see it that helps.
