Default maf or cable?

Ok i have a 01 3.8 and when i connect the MAF i can't even take off it just shuts off as soon as i try to drive. When it is not connected it drives... but it bogs like crazy. i was told it is the maf but i am thinking it make the the able running from the maf to the actual master cable. I am lost because i was told that the maf was replaced before i got the car. Help is appreciated.

I am located in tampa FL if anyone is in the area so we could try their Maf and cable to see if that really is the problem or if it is something else

if it is a maf related problem there should be a cel thrown. try cleaning the maf, disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and take it for a drive.

there is one cable from the maf going to another 2nderay connector. i meant that cable. I will clean it and try it again. Thanks for the info so far. Also on the CEL is is not throwing a CEL But there is a SES light on. Even with it is not connected it is not throwing a CEL which it should right? I am not the original owner of the vehicle and it has been neglected a lot. I was told a new fuel pump was installed, but there are no papers to be found in the vehicle. I believe That the car is running rich as hell just beacause the sensor is not hocked up. I have yet to try the battery thing, but the intake assembly is so Ni**er rigged ( see pic). I have to order a new one from ford of AM.

Thanks for the input and i will keep you posted.

oh that cable, the only way for that to physically go out is to have it actually break a wire or connector. which only happens under circumstances of abuse. and a SES and CEL are the same Service Engine Soon, Check Engine Light also if it is lit up the computer has a code stored and needs to be read from a reader. autozone scans for free.
