just get a aftermarket harmonic balancer to be sure also if you want to get REALLY into it get a scale that measures to the gram and then weight match all the rods and pistons, also dont forget to stagger your rings AND THEN THROW A M112 ON IT!!!!!! you'll be the most bad a$$ van man in the land

Would any one recommend either of these cams over the stock truck cam considering my application? I like the look of the 44-701-9. I feel that it may give up a little low end but I'm thinking that the % of grunt lost will be made up for by the increase in displacement & the split port intake.

Application RPM Camshaft Cam Duration Valve Lift Lobe Sep.
Operating Part Grind Advertised @.050” Angle
Range Number Number In. Ex. In. Ex. In. Ex.
Excellent stock replacement w/strong torque
& midrange. 1000-5000 44-700-9 255HR112 255 263 200 208 .480 .480 112
strong torque. 1200-5800 44-701-9 259HR115 259 271 204 216 .480 .480 115

Or If anyone else has a cam they think might work better....

Oh, and gtenvy95, It already has 6 CerwinVegas & 800 wats.

That supercharged windstar is outrageous haha. It'd get the kids to soccer practice in no time.

How awesome would it be to have a turbocharged windstar? Maybe you could grab a turbo out of a junkyard? Why not go the whole mile if your tearing apart 3 engines... Just my thought.

Default Whoah Nellie!!!

That fellow in Arizona has an interesting concept, BUT remember the weak link here is the AXOD transmission! & look at his tires, They are 215/75 R15's. If he really has 400 FWHP he is just making lots of smoke unless he is somehow making the blower come on late. I haven't seen anybody do that with an Eaton type SC yet. (I'm often proven wrong on things though.)

I don't want to bite off more than I can chew at 1 time. The vehicle was rated at 150HP/220TQ.

So, Right now my plans are to:

1) Put NA / Stock 4.2 in the 95' Windstar. Split port, 96' Mustang headers, and larger displacement should put me around 210HP/260TQ. 40%/20% improvement.

2) Once i have all the driveability issues worked out, get the Heads / intake ported. And a custom cam. I'm guessing 250HP/300TQ.

3) I think when step 2 is done the AXOD will be on limited time so, I am thinking to grab a A4OD? out of a Freestar and find out what modifications can be done to make it stronger. I will have to start lurking the FWD forums to see what modifications can be done to help the Windstar hook up better.

4) I'm following this guys build up and think it is probably the best Forced Induction setup for the Windstar especially considering I ought to be able to tune the Turbo to come on later / more gradually to try and help the transmission survive. I only live 20 miles from him and can use the resources he does if they prove fruitful. Maybe 375HP/300TQ???

I DO apperciate all the support and help the members of this board are providing.

And as always, If someone has a differing opinion on any aspect I would love to hear them.

Bruce did his Windstar for the fun of it. It's not going to be raced by anymeans. Power is power - you don't make 100% of your peak power all the time when driving.
I ran an SC'd 4.0L on 235 tires and it was a fun vehicle to drive.
