Default Best Catbacks

Hey all, i'm looking to get a dual y style cat back exhaust system to put on my 3.8l.
Questions:
1. what sounds the richest and not so much "loudest"?
2. what is the best site to get from? summit racing? borla?
3. i'm not looking to spend over 300-400 bucks really so what would be the best bang for my buck?

any reply is valuable thanks you guys

The catbacks the sell for the y pipe suck. They restrict flow and don't sound that good. What I would do if I was you, buy thrush welded series mufflers ($70 for 2) and go to an exhaust shop and have true duals fabbed up. That should run from $200-300. It will sound/flow better than the stock y pipe design. And under $400. But if you want the y pipe I say borla or flowmaster.

wow i didnt think that true duals would be that cheap to get fabbed up. i think i have to have the catalytic converter on there (VA laws suck) so would i have to get another one to add to the other pipe? thrush weld series mufflers...is that like a "brand" like flo-master or is it a type? are they all pretty much the same as far as sound goes?

They sound like flowmasters but half the price. Have them cut from right behind your stock cats. You have two already right before the y pipe comes together. Cut right after your stock cats and have it fabbed from there. Yeah Thrush is a brand. Then they are the welded series mufflers you want. I've heard JEGS has them cheap.

Thanks man. I don't know it as much as some guys lol but I try to help. I can help with most bolt on mod questions but once you get in the motor or start dealing with power adders my knowledge isn't that extensive....

no problem. i pretty much can fix a car if something goes bad (long as i have google and the right tool) but i'm sorta new to the "mustang trend" and i'm just trying to learn as much as i can about them as far as power additives

You and me both man haha I got mine a little over a year ago and I've been trying to learn anything and everything I can ever since. I'm only 18 so its my first real experience with cars you know. I've always loved them but never knew much about them.
