Will I get a ticket?
Hey guys I think i did somethin stupid today and I need some help. I was coming home from work and I made a right turn on a red. I know this is legal if your in the far right lane but there are 2 turning lanes and I was in the outside turning lane instead of the far right lane. I came to a complete stop and everything but I was hella trippin cuz there was a sh*tload od cameras there. Does anyone know if that is legal or not? Someone told me it was but im just hella trippin, i live in CA and i need to know like NOW! if anyone can help me out please let me know thanks!
Well, I'm not from California but in my state, if a lane is designated a turning lane or is the only lane, then turning on a red light, as long as you are at a dead stop before turning, is legal. Some people don't know this but, if you are at an intersection with a road that has a one way only going to the left that you can turn left on a red light as well, at least in my state.
I can't remember if you can or not. Option is to wait and see if you get a ticket in the mail or break out your DMV Driver's manual to calm your nerves. Hope you have some extra money just in case.

You must be in the last lane to do that (as long as no signs are posted) in New Jersey, not sure about CA.
I also have a question about something similar. I was at an intersection, turning right. The turning right lane was seperated by a small median, and the lane itself curved to the right.
There was a red light and a white stop line on the ground. I stopped at it and looked around for a "no turn on red" sign. There wasn't any sign. I was hesitant, but I went.

This picture shows what the intersection was like. You can see the cement median thing I'm talking about. The only reason I was confused was becuase there was a stop line (not a crosswalk).

As long as you didn't turn into the inside lane as you made your turn, you're fine. I drove in Cali for 15 years and got tickets for a lot of the less thougth of 'rules' of the road. That was never one of them and I have turned from right from the outter designated turn lane on a red, with a cop behind me.
