The unfortunate part about IRS is that, since the mustang suspension is basically unchanged since 74-04 it was never meant to go into a mustang. (like it is in the vette for instance) So its basically a hack job by ford. And you can make the solid axle handle better with money.

The Solid Axle is lighter, but not THAT much lighter.

To compensate for the heavier rear end, the engineers lightened the front end by 95 pounds, providing the 1999 Cobra with an improved 55/45 percent weight distribution, compared to last year's 57/43 percent.
Another important note is that the IRS reduces unsprung weight significantly, as well.

Then you can mod the IRS, though.

More parts for the IRS than SRA, apparently you havn't looked at your 95 and back 5.0 selection of parts, it's HUGE!!! And pretty much all interchangeable.

Sorry for the weight screw up, I could of swore the complete IRS assembly adds about 200lbs in total over a regular SRA, but I could be wrong.

Yea, the IRA vs SRA is a debate, but in short, I'd chose a solid built IRS over a SRA any day.

for my v6 im going IRS cause i want to turn it to autocross, after marine corp when i get my cobra im putting a 9 inch in that so a TT or 2.8L+ supercharger won't blow it up (yes entire drive line will be forged ad built up im no idiot lol) so really depends on the application.
