Default manual to auto swap??

A friend of mine bought an 3.8 from a salvage yard ? he took the pilot bearing out but there seems to be a bushing in the crank, what do you have to do to get it out or is there something i,m missing I have not seen the engine so i don,t know first hand just thought some of you might know ??? thanks for some help on this.

if the "bushing" is in the same spot as the pilot bearing, it's not a bushing it's the outer piece of the pilot bearing that your friend broke off taking it out. to remove it you need a blind hole bearing puller. you can "rent" them from autozone.
