Holy Sh** 120 mpg to half a tank
Hey guys so you all know that i still have the bog sometimes....well after i did the fuelfilter and the new 02 sensor ( which still bring the code) ( not oem ford goodness FTL) anyway i only get about 120 MPG to the 1st half of the tank. is that for real or not? My Friends Camaro SS gets 180 and it's a V8. Now don't get me started if i attempted to WOT i bog 5-9 times in a 0-90 run and only get 55 to 90 miles to half a tank. i am so lost. I am going to check my injectors and the the plugs and tht other good stuff. HELP me get better MPG because i really want to boost this with a turbo but with this mpg now what can i expect in the future. like 30 to half a tank ? twin cobras get more. i need ur help people
i have thread with the code in it it's like p0171 lean bank side 1 passenger side.
I am so lost i replaced the sensor like the damn reader said but i am still getting a bog and yeah u r right half is bad i get 200 or less Miles to a tank ...... i really know that this is not what i am suppose to get on a 12 gallon tank. this sh*t sucks

Don't measure miles per part of a tank. Fill it all the way up, and then when you fill it up again take the number of miles you drove and divide by the number of gallons you put in.
Also, make sure you have the right size tires to have that calculation be accurate.

If the O2 sensor says you're lean, then the sensor is probably working perfectly. Just because a sensor throws a code doesn't mean the sensor is bad, it means something else is. Clean your MAF.
yeah maf.... i really hoped that was fixed but why would it throw the code.... it is stating that it's only coming from one side. why would it do that if it was the maf?

alright so i think if found my problem.. today i started the car with the hood open and noticed smoke. The smoke looks like to be coming from the last header pipe closet to the engine. I am not sure what this could b. I could be the collector seal or the exhaust header seal? it's hard to pin point because it is coming from below mentioned pipe. I am going to look at it next week but until now what do you guys think. this would explain my still on going code.
Thanks for the info guys.

po171 would be
"-The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
- There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor."
could possibly be something with the EGR also 'i think'
And I know our cars are not under identical conditions, but 120 miles for me at half a tank is roughly 20ish mpg
