Default Pre-Ignition help

Since i found out what was causing the noise from the tune. Now i am curious about this Pre-Ignition. Since my car ran on this tune for about 5 months now i am curious about the potential damage that could have happen to my engine. I read up that it can damage pistions or some sort like that. can some one please explain to me what could have happen. It is on stock tune and it dont pre ignite, only does on 93+. on stock tune i am getting less then 21 mpg highway when i was at 31.

Have you tried changing the spark timing? I think that it should help with it.

You got your Xcal from AM right? I had the same problem on all 3 of my tunes (87+ 87economy, and 93+)

I called them and they sent me 3 new. corrected tunes to "fix" the problem... Even though the tunes are still having some odd problems with my Auto trans, Its not detonating any more.

For now, I'd run higher octane than the tune is set for, or suck it up and keep it stock for now..

also, what kind of plugs you use?

few horror pics of detonation/pre-ignition granted these are extreme cases but extended periods of detonation can cause problems too.

Yeah, very extreme lol, like I told him though, if he runs higher octane or stock, shouldn't be anything too bad
