Default Exhaust sputtering?

Hey guys, so I have a peculiar question.

My exhaust on the 99' is acting up. Whenever it idles after it's warmed up if you walk behind the car it sputters. It literally sounds like a bicycle with a card in the spokes or someone making the sound with their lips. It's quit annoying and i'm not sure why... I know the previous owner had chrome tips put on, and i'm hoping it's just because maybe they rusted through somewhere. Also, every now and then it pops. Not a loud one but sounds like a clunk kinda in the tips.

Now, I know for sure that my MAF sensor is cracked BAD. It is cracked from about an inch above the rubber coupling of the CAI all the way down to the edge so thats about a..4 inch crack maybe. Could this be it?

I dunno, i need some ideas. I really would like to fix it. If it's tips I got it. I can try to get a video up here sometime but not sure when.

ALSO, off the topic here but when i crank the car when its cold it squeeks twice..from under the hood. Sounds like rubbing foam together, any ideas?

Thanks alot guys! Any help would be appreciated and I will help in any way I can.

Tips will NOT help the sputtering, tips are cosmetic, they do nothing for performance/sound.

My car sputters as well. I believe it is just a common V6 thing.

Get the MAF fixed ASAP. A crack in anything is never a good thing.

As for the pop, the only time I have ever heard a pop in an exhaust is when the engine has a misfire. Check all the wires and make sure they are going to the right plug. Is the SES light on?

Yes it is..for an EVAP emissions leak. Could that be from MAF?

Sounds like you have a leak somewhere.

The best way is the drive the car onto a hoist. Have someone in the car, lift the car up, start the car and have someone listen/feel for leaks.

judging by the volume of it at the back of the car I'm guessing between the cats and the muffler some where. loose cat back ball flange, rusted out pip behind muffler, cracked pipe. something like that.
