Default new clutch

so my clutch keeps sliping and im looking into getting it replaced, im looking at a spec stage 2, but i saw a couple people saying a ram hdx is a bettery buy. so im looking for some advice as far as wich would be more recomended. also i wasnt to ask around and see if there is anyway to adjust the clutch cable to help out while i get all the money together to do all this. right now i have enough for the clutch kit. i still dont know abuout getting a new fly wheel or just resurfacing the old one, and then labor is kinda up there too. so any help or advice in much appreciated

If you go with getting a new clutch get the ram. Resurface the stock flywheel to cut down on cost. I can't help you with labor because I did mine myself.

I ordered a Spec stage 3 a few years back and it came to me with a warped pressure plate.

I gave them a call to try to get it replaced and they were very rude and said that they don't make defective or bad clutches. The second person was yelling and cursing and said the same thing.

The clutch is still sitting in the garage...

I called RAM and asked them about their clutches and wound up telling them what happened with spec. They felt my pain and gave me a hefty discount and said that if I ever had a problem with their clutches that they would always take care of me.

I bought my King Cobra clutch from them and couldn't have been happier.

Now there are a lot of people that have never had a problem with their customer service but I did and I tell everyone I can about it.

Spec makes a good clutch when it doesn't come from them defective. My wife even likes them EVEN THOUGH she was right there with me through the whole ordeal because she loves the feel and grip.

She has a stage 3 in her 01' Cobra conversion.

SO if you don't want problems with customer service then stay away from Spec
If you want great customer service with awesome clutches then give RAM a call.

I would like to hope that my story has at least cost them 10 times what it would have cost just to replace my defective pressure plate and hopefully that number will grow over the years until they replace my pressure plate.

Labor costs for a clutch isnt too bad When I had my explorer 4wd it was only like 400 to replace. not bad imo but if you have a few good hand tools and socket sets you can do this job in a day or two to start with. I had more trouble pulling a fwd car axle than I did to replace a clutch in that same car.

ok, so ima go with a ram hdx kit, now my next question is i can get a fly wheel from autozone for about 50 bucks, but since im putting in this clutch should i go with a performance flywheel or will just a stock one do? this is depending on the state of my current wheel. now for 50 bucks i wouldnt mind just getting a new one, but what would you guys suggest?

I have a Spec flywheel and the Spec stage 2 clutch and i'm pretty satisfied with them. No stiffer than my stock clutch and grabbs quite nicely. But the only problem was bolting the pressure plate to the flywheel, like 3 holes on the pressure plate were not stright so we had to mess with them a little bit which was a apin in the ***.

I have a Spec clutch and aluminum flywheel. Love them both. I have heard of people having trouble with them though. I say go with Spec unless you are absolutely worried. And, don't worry about the aftermarket flywheel, get yours resurfaced. I have the aluminum flywheel with an aluminum d/s and would not recommend it for anyone unless they are wanting a track car. I want a road course car so it works perfectly for me and wanting high revs, but when I shift it drops so fast that I have to throttle the car up to speed to make sure it doesn't buck when I want to go for a simple cruise.
