Default Quick question

If I can get my hands on a catted X from a Mach 1, which is the same as the GT, which you can modify the flanges to fit our car, I can make it work, right? haha just checking before I go through with it.

Almost positive its a yes. Not 100% though. Worst comes to worst cut and weld your flange on and make it work haha.

Of course you can change the flanges and angle but you are going to have to worry about the way it mounts to the trans support.

When I had my 94/95 BBK X-Pipe modified it lined up perfectly for the trans mount because the GT trans is a T5.

The Mach 1 trans is a TR3650 so I dont know if the way it mounts will work.

The T5 mount rods are very simple and the shop that you are going to have do the work can weld a new pair on, just have them take a look at your old midpipe.

Also while you are doing this you REALLY should upgrade to a set of 94-98 shorty headers because they are a 2.25" collector instead of the 2.00" collector on the 99-04 not to mention they are a 3-1 tubular design.

The reasoning behind this is so that you can upgrade to a larger flange that the 94-98 uses and of course flow more and sound better.

This is a crappy vid of my BBK x-pipe but you get the idea www.youtube.com/CrainRacing

You should be able to use your stock EGR with the 94-98 headers, you will just need to muscle it a little but mine worked great.

Its all worth if if you get the parts cheap and it sound like you are going to get a great/free deal on the Mach midpipe.

Well as far as I know (what AmericanMuscle says) that the 99-04 GT/Mach 1 Midpipes are exactly the same. I know the 99-02?? GT used the T5 so I'm hoping I'm alright.

I don't have an old midpipe to look at though, haha I have divorced duals all the way out. I'll have to look into the 94-98 headers, though. I may be getting a '68 in the near future though so all my funds may go towards that!

I'm getting that for basically free I think.

The GT's from 99-mid 01 had the T45 trans, then from mid 01-04 they used the TR3650 (I think).

I thought it was only the Cobras that got the T45? Pretty sure the 99-01's had the T5... I'll look into that. Either way the T5/45 are the same transmission, 45 just has a lower 5th gear ratio

Nevermind,I guess they did have the T45. Weird.

Wait a minute, why does the tranny matter at all? I've done IRS's, t-56 swaps, anda ll that stuff and the exhaust was never affected, except in the case of IRS where the tailpipes have to be different.
