Default Gas leak??

About a week ago i was filling up and happened to notice a drip coming from under the car and it was gas leaking. last night i was filling up again and the gas was puddling........ this morning i got under the car to take a look and the line that goes from the gas cap to the tank is where it was leaking from so i had taken off the black plastic piece held on by the 2 zip ties and i found that it was rusted!? anybody have any issues like that before?? the car never sees snow and everything else under the car is clean.

When I bought my stang it had no gas in it so I filled it up. gas was pouring out in a stream. Turns out it was the rubber O ring that seals the gas fill line at the tank. Seems Ethanol eat rubber like crazy. Cheap little part at least.

Yeah it was that grommet that seals the filler tube to the tank that caused the problem for me.

not to mention my fuel mileage has been horrible cause im lucky to get like 45 miles from a 1/4 tank my guess is since it rusted the filler neck that some rust when through....? how far should i go into fixing the prob? im planning on getting new filler neck, plugs, and injectors hoping this will help out. have 138k miles so i figure time to replace the plugs and injectors cause im the 2nd owner and bought it at 100k off old lady and i cant imagine either were changed... what are some good plugs and injectors? autolites fine or ?

As far as plugs go i've always used these

My little brother swears by these in his '99GT

And for injectors I usually just go to my local dealer and get them...and while you're changing fuel system components don't forget a fuel filter.

the local dealer wants $205.00 for the filler neck and i said forget that! so im on search at salvage yards.. 5 yards later and still no luck but ive only been looking for them for the 99-04. are other years the same and how about the gt's? two yards say the necks are not compatible between years even the v6s of 99-04 are different??

$50 to much for that part? guy at that place can be a tool but if thats easy price i may just have to deal with it. others say $25 when they have them in but claim they dont last long cause people come for only the tanks and they send the necks with them. DD so dont want to waste more money on the ground....got some glares for the big earth day people yesterday hahaha

still leaking.. calling another dealer tomorrow see if i can find one that'll look beyond the computer screen. as far as the injectors and plugs go... i can live with bad mileage for a little bit longer since im in search for a 4.2 to put in it...... thinking while typing.... if i buy the injectors for the 3.8 they will fit in the 4.2 and maybe it would be good to just get them and throw new injectors/plugs in it any way and then into the 4.2 when i get it????.......
