Default 4.2 crank swap

are there any links on doing a 4.2 crank swap or can u tell me somethings about ? like if i do it will it lose the ability to be a daily driver and will it eat up gas like crazy? or any other good info on this ? thanks

It can still be a dd but I'm not sure about gas mileage, I doubt it would drop significantly if at all. It'll give you something like 5hp and 10-15tq over your stock 3.8 I believe. Its not just the crank though, you need the rod and probably pistons as well.

I stand corrected. So you can just find a 4.2 crank and have a shop put your rods and pistons on it and your good to go?

yup, of course the bearings and stuff, like any crank install, but nothing out of the ordinary.

you do need new 4.2L pistons tho, right? I thought you needed a 4.2 crank and pistons but could use the same rods. I could be wrong tho.

All you need is the crank, that's it. I wouldn't say it's any stronger, I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that, but it's not weaker either.
