Default Cheap Upgrades!

What would be the cheapest way to beef my mustang up? I have exhuast and a cold air. I know theres superchargers out there but they would seem a little expensive. Any ideas?

pick two
if you build it ______ it will not be _________

1. cheap
2. fast
3. reliable

But to help you out..use the search function and read the sticky about 3.8 mods

Look at the cost per hp rate. Here's an example

$160 per 4 hp = $40 per 1 hp on a cold air intake.

$2500 for all the parts needed for an M-112 Supercharger = 90 hp @ 8 psi = $27.7 per hp, hmm....doesn't sound expensive to me, on the contrary, cold air intakes are a rip on price wise.

The kit is $3,100 now plus gauges plus tune. So pretty much $3,500 minimum.

gears are under 200 bucks and make a noticeable difference in acceleration

then again you'd need to get them installed
and a t-loc would also be recommended

Gears and tlock and installation and everything can reach a grand quickly if done right.

I agree with gears and T-Lok. That was my first real mod. If you have the tools and someone who knows how to work on the rear end, it won't cost much. (However, you might want to hit your head against the wall trying to figure out how to remove the open differential...) Otherwise, $700 is about the minimum you could do it for, and that's with cheap parts and cheap labor.

Honestly, I'd just say wait. Save up every last dime you can Then you will eventually be able to get the M-112. Or a Gt. That's the only way to get massive gains.

Well still, $3500, and you can still do a cheap pulley swap and run up to 15 psi.
