Default stroker kit Questions

**Please read all before posting**

Ok I got a 2000 3.8L and Looking at getting SSM's Long Rod 4.3 Stroker kit. Question before i get started is, What all will I need to the swap over that they don't provide? There kit comes with New 4.2 crank, SCAT forged stroker H-beam rods, ARP rod bolts, Wiseco forged pistons, rings, pins, and lox.

The engine that I am getting is apparently seized and happened yesterday when he went to turn it over by hand. It has everything included in it and a new water pump. I am looking at striping it totally down.

Now I msged SSM a while ago and they sent me this list:

Long Rod 4.3 rod/piston kit at 8.7:1 compression ratio, $1350.
Race-prepped 4.2 crankshaft: $900
Turbo cam 218/218 .55/.55 114 lobe separation, $395.
Stage 3 ported cylinder heads: $1650
1.7 stud mount roller rocker arm kit: $495

I am probably going to just get the other kit that comes with the normal crankshaft since this will be a daily driver and get my heads done somewhere local.

Also what does everyone think of that cam? should I change it out to a different one or keep that one on the build list. I can't find any videos of it on a car thought and would like to find one.

Nothing all you will need is a shop to put it all together.

It would be a good idea to have a machine shop assemble the short block, unless you have the tool to compress and install the rings. Other than that you should be able put it together yourself. Make sure you use lots of lube and take you time.

MAke sure you have new crank bearings and all the seals/gaskets

Oh yea me and my club have built some nice engines in the day. Just wanted some advise from the guys that have done the stroker kit before. Haven't heard from them yet but going to pick up the engine today.

Let me know how it goes I am planning on going the same route, but for a supercharged application.

Just remembered what balance is the new crank? Depending on when that 2000 engine was made, you may need a new crank pulley and flexplate/flywheel. Also I think you need the oil pan of a 02-04 for clearance issues.

I know mine is a early 2000 but i am hoping that this engine is a late 2000 since i have the crank pulley for it already.

If you and your "club" have done so much, I'm curious as to why are you asking us... you should be talking to them since the will be doing everything with you right?
