I know you guys are gonna be very upset with me... but since i'm only 17, my parents don't want me spending money on performance mods to my 98 3.8. dissapointing, i know, but they say i don't need to be racing anyone anyway. so, with my money, i want to make it at least look good. anyone got any good ideas?? the tint law in illinois is anything in the back but nothin' in the front... so... keep that in mind. thanks guys, sorry for the let down.

we've all been there, no worries.

On the tint topic, it will help your car look cleaner and stay cooler in the sun. I'd say go for it (i did, but i went illegal with 20% all around, best friend got 5% on his GT and it's dark as night in there). But DONT try to tint your windows with the cheap stuff, get it done professionally so it wont bubble up. Expect slight bubbling the first couple days, but it goes away.

Wheels can make your car look more muscular and feel better if you get a wider tire. I got 17" 245 Cobra wheels and they make the car look much more muscular.

A word to the wise though.... Dont spend all your money on your car if you plan to go to college. When you get there, if you're just gonna live off your parents' pocket you'll be in for some rough accomodations till you get a job. I'd say try to talk your folks into a Cold Air Intake. You can get a CHEAP one from Mustang Tuning Will slightly increase horsepower, help burn a little cleaner, and give you better gas mileage. Congrats on the Mustang though, they're great cars for a first car. Good luck and drive safe.

easy solution, go to eye doctor, complain of headaches in light, get a doctors not for tint, get 20% on every window surface with a 6" 2% strip over the front and a 0% 6" blackout in the rear. thats what i did

then for the 98, new wheels/tires. i love cobra r wheels on red 98 mustangs. then lower with ford C springs or the eibach pro kit. and your parents wont even let you get exhaust? c'mon!

A set of Rims, bumper inserts, stripes, a body kit(roush or saleen or cobra not a ricer one) spoiler if you dont already, and try to talk your parents into dual exaust as an appearance mod because it looks much better than the stock exaust on 6ers

for some inexpensive appearance mods, try Baltimore Street Mods . They have inexpensive do it yourself stripes, some lighting options, and interior options that can look pretty cool. Most of it is under $100 and a bunch is under $50. They send you all the info on how to install the stripes yourself.

Dude get a Mach 1 Chin Spoiler it makes the front end look so much better. And with springs, wheels, tint, and the chin spoiler the car will look so much better

I can't afford to do performance mods, and I'm not disappointed. I'd rather save my money for moving out and starting my life.

I've done the mach1 grille, dual racing stripes (which I did myself so I didn't pay to have them done), reflective bumper inserts, and a CAI. All of those things together were under $200, including shipping and whatnot.

You should go with a new grille, rims, chin spoiler, bumper inserts, and maybe some springs. I'm sure your parents will allow the CAI as well. It doesn't add much HP and is good on gas.

Do a CAI, a complete exhaust system and underdrive pullies, they will help you save on gas, provided you have a light right foot. v6mustangstuff.com has some small appearence items that you could do as well.
