Default Do I sell the car?

I have a stock '94 Mustang (3.8, v6 manual) with a beautiful black interior and a blue exterior, it's been stored every winter. 142,000 miles on the body and 40,000 on the engine. The oil pan gasket needs to be replaced because of a slight oil leak and now antifreeze has began to leak from the water pump seal I believe. I love the car but do not have the time nor do I want to to put a whole lot of money into the car, do I sell it? If so, what would YOU buy it for if you were going to buy it? Trying to get a feel for what I can sell it for. Thanks!

1500...maybe,..2K being VERY generous..

Yeah, it's a 16 year old v6 Mustang. You won't be getting much for it.

With the notorious headgasket problem (tho it sounds like that has already happened if you rebuilt the motor) and being a 16 year old car maybe 2K if it is in as good of shape as you say it is. Keep it the water pump is like $100 from Napa or Rockauto.com, and the oil pan is probably fine for a while if its only a small leak. The cars get great gas mileage (at least mine did until I started to mod it).

You say you love the car, so if you 1)own the car outright, 2)dont need the money, and 3)have a place to store it, then keep it as it doesnt cost anything for it to sit until you have time to fix it up.

yeah thats what i would do. so what if it takes you a month or two until you get to fix it, if you love the car then its all that matters

You have to remove the power steering pulley to get to the water pump bracket. Other than that, it's fairly straight forward. The oil pan gasket is kind of a PITA too, you have to raise the engine, or drop k member(F that). I would be more worried about the pump than a small oil leak at this point. GL

Are you positive it's the oil pan gasket?

I say keep it, still worthwhile to keep with being a '94 imo.

Thanks for the responses guys! I have decided that I am going to store the Mustang and gradually work on it throughout the winter. It's about time to get ready for the storing season anyhow. I'm positive the oil is coming from the oil pan gasket as the previous owner informed me of this and you identify the leak is coming from there when the car is lifted. No matter what, I'm probably just going to ignore this issue as I have for the past year.

As for the antifreeze leak, I'm really hoping it's just the water pump. I left this morning to go to town & I thought I could smell antrifreeze. When I got home I noticed a puddle of antifreeze where I park and I refilled the empty resevoir and took the car a few blocks to school so we could lift it during shop class. If I can picture this correctly, the leak is coming from where the water pump meets the oil pan. Instructor said to replace the the water pump first before diagnosing this as a headgasket problem. I would just have the shop class do this but they're not going to be far enough along in their unit until next semester.
