question on engine c
You want EFI whenever possible.
It self adjustes for temperature changes, tunes itself within a certain limit, gives more power, is capable of changing to take care of many different forms of power (nitrous, n/a, f/i), and gives better gas milage.

thx for the info..does anyone have detailed instructions on the conversion..also what about the trans? plz tell me the 5.0 will hook to the current trans...but i have a bad feeling it wont
thanks
thanks
I am almost done with the exact same conversion. that tranny will line up but you will cook it in a matter of time. I had an 89 5.0 I used as a donor car so i just used that tranny. It goes pretty easy, putting motor in is easy, having a donor car really helped though. if youve finished yours already did you encounter any wiring problems with ignition and fuel pump? thats where im stuck on mine
You will also want to change the rear at the least. The suspension is different between the two cars too, but you can get away with the 4cyl suspension.
347Stroker, when I converted my convertible some 5 or 6 years ago, I had no wiring problems at all. I changed the main harness off the computer and everything under hood. I even kept the original in dash harness from the 4cyl and had no issues.

my car isn't running yet but as far as how hard it was to swap the 5.0 into the 2.3l , we could have done it in a week give or take. we had wiring problems but it was just from lack of experience and preparation. The swap was an EFI 5.0 to begin with but we couldn't get it to stay running ( Just found out tonight we fouled almost all the plugs and thats probably why) So I decided to go carb to free up some space in the engine bay and make it look alittle nicer. This was just because of personal preferance and my being annoyed at the wiring. EFI hasadvantages over carburetors, I just like the extra space a carb setup provides and the way the engine looks with one. It is WAY more simple to put in to , no screwing with the wiring computer and wiring harness . As far as the tranny if it is a manual it will bolt up ,and the driveshaft will workI am pretty sure. it is weaker than a 5.0 T-5 though so it'll be short lived. If its a automatic the drive shaft won't work and it's really weak as well.

347stroker - I did experience those 2 same problems exactly. I fixed them like this. Ran a hot wire from the battery to the hot side of the coil and spliced it in with a switch . Did basically the same thing with the fuel pump too , ran a hot wire and switch to it. The two switches were mounted on a plate where my tape player was before. It worked like a charm but the fuel pump stayed on all the time when the switch was on. Also I just found out the reason my car didn't run was because I fouled most of the spark plugs because i didn't realize i had no spark and kept turning the engine over with the fuel pump running.
