Default Alarm System Help

Hey guys, my roommate drives a '98 GT (yeah I know wrong section) but the alarm system randomly goes off. Annoying as hell at night... Anyone ever had this issue before?

Was wondering if there was any way to disable the Alarm system?

Thanks, Davee

Take it out would be one fix LOL

Might be sensative to movement (wind, cars passing etc...) I had one that did that.

Also could be sensing change in battery (like it's sensing a light coming on when the door opens). I had one that did that as well.

Well I pulled the horn fuse so at least it wont wake up the neighbors lol.

But you can lock the door, and hit, kick, bounce the car... nothing...just randomly goes off...

I was walking the dog and was looking at the car and it just went off...no change in anything :/

Have to bring it to Ford to have the PATS disabled?

its the factory system? If so it may be a door switch problem, because they don't have vibration sensors, only door sensors.

Alarms a useless... Sure they may warn you that someone is ****ing with your **** but if someone wants it, they will get it.

Im thinking its an aftermarket system and the sensitivity is very high. My buddy had a Viper system installed in his 04 Silverado and he could set the sensitivity so high that I tapped the fender and the alarm went off.

The sensors are located in the latch, and a PITA to get to. I'm honestly not very familiar with the entire alarm setup, but the switches usually jsut start to stick over time. Spraying them down with some wd-40 usually does the trick. If you pop the door panel off and try to look at the latch, you'll see 2 wires going to it, they plug into the switch. So just spray on the opposite side of the plug and you should be ok, if that's the problem.
