Question A CRY FOR HELP

hello everyone i am new to MF. I am havin a problem with my 2001 3.8L V-6 automatic and i am hoping someone out there can lead me in the right direction. Starting with the problem misfire?, dunno definately cuttin out now in park it will not rev over 4,000 RPM bounces and sounds like rev limiter which it does not have also in park not sure if this is related when the electric fan kicks on engine vibrates, vibrates entire car(no blades missing), now with that bein said when i start the car there are no problems sounds like a machine take off drivin no problems yet, 10-15 minutes on the highway starts to cut out shake and die violently even if slipped into nuetral cannot keep engine runnin let it sit 5-10 minutes start up take off again its a vicious cycle. Any ideas yet? well here is what i have done so far, new coil pack, wires, plugs, and fuel filter. had an exhaust leak took the opportunity to hollow out the cats while i had it apart, passenger side had the leak the isides came out easy the driver side was plugged, very dense, very hard to get out. trouble codes after all this are PO141,PO136 which are bank 1 sensor 2, which is behind the cats are these showin cause i hollowed them out or are they a problem? any help, any ideas are greatly apprecited. Also was wonderin if it could be the throttle position sensor, pressure regulator, or mass air meter? Please help!

I would definitely clean the MAF, what made you hollow out the cats?

How old are the spark plug wires? Any cracked spark plugs?

You do have a rev limiter in park and it is lower than the redline. Sounds like you have a sensor out or unpluged, once the engine warms up it starts to run the engine baised on the readings from sensors aka closed loop. You have a major problem going into closed loop. Check all elecrical connections on the motor and make sure none came off, also check the wires themselves as they can burn through if they are touching something too hot.

Wow Im suprised you guys could read that. OP - please for the love of God learn to use periods (.) when writing out sentences. With that being said - You probably are having problems due to the hollow cats. The computer is throwing a CEL because your exhaust readings are running outside the normal operating peramiters and the computer cannot compansate enough to fix it. I would also check/clean you MAF, and check your O2.

Thanks,
Matthew

My car also sounds ilke that over 4RPM however, if i start out in low then punch on it will go over 4 without any a bonce. I did get a # 1 cylinder misfire code....gave a tune up replaced the coil but thinking about replacing the #1 injector just to make sure there no issue with #1 misfire or the engine light.

Check your coil packs you guys.

Even if they dont look bad they still can be bad.

After that check your plugs and plug wires.

1) The English language - learn it. Grammer is your friend.
2) You made a big mistake hollowing out your cats. Find new ones ASAP.
3) Coil pack/plugs/wires - get new ones
4) Fuel filter - get a new one

Thanks for the responses. the coil, plugs, wires, and fuel filter are new and workin properly. I finally got it into a shop yesterday and found out it is a bad sensor behind the cats. Hopefully this is the end of my problem, soon as i can pick one up i'll keep ya'll posted on the outcome. Once again thanks for responding.
