Default Brake question

First off, what is the difference between Cross drilled brake rotors and normal brake rotors?

Second, what brand of rotors and pads should I buy for my 97 5 speed?

The cross drilled offer better braking power and also distribute heat better. The normal brake rotors are flat and across. I have PowerSlot rotors (slotted rotors, not cross drilled) and ceramic brake pads (forgot which brand but they were Hawks.) They both have performed very well for me.

Here's the cross drilled:

Here's normal rotors:

If the car is stock and no real upgrades then OEM rotors and pads are pads are fine. What do you use the car for? Is it a DD, are you trying to upgrade to make it a track car?

A 99+ Cobra front brake conversion will do you wonders, just go with the stock conversion.

Google search is your friend. Also search for Mach 1 brake set. They both work perfectly but do require 17 inch rims.

Craigslist, Google, other forums like SVTPerformance and Corral.net or Ebay.

They are all around out there.

There is a complete kit in Kansas City Mo. Craigslist for $300.

If you buy new its almost $700 from American Muscle.

If you have future plans for the car, The Mach or Cobra upgrade would be worth it, if not, just get some OEM rotors and pads.
