Replace Door Hinges

Replace Door Hinges
All,
I am in the middle of replacing the drivers side door hinges on my daughter's 1999 mustang comvertible. I removed the front fender and replaced the lower hinge but would like to know if anyone has a tip on how to get to the inside nut on the upper hinge. Can I get to the nut if I remove the gauge cluster. It doesn't appear that the top of the dash comes off so if I can't get it through the gauge cluster I might have to remove the entire dash which I really don't want to do.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

+1 Please.
I have a box sitting here with new hinges for my drivers side door. I would like to know what I'm in for. Is it straight forward? Using a jack and a second person to hold the door stable?
Thanks-

I'm trying to tell you to not replace the whole hinge unless it was damaged, 99% of the time it's just pins and bushings, but of course there's always that chance. Just make sure you mark everything very well or you'll play hell getting the door to line up.

Ryan,
I replaced the lower hinge and gave up on replacing the upper hinge because it looks like you would have to remove the entire dash to do it. I removed the gauge cluster and the headlight switch and still could not even come close to seeing the nut on the inside of the hinge. I would like to just replace the hinge pin and bushings if I could. That is what I originally wanted to do but I have not been able to find pins and bushings for a 1999 Mustang. I can find them up to a 1998 but not for the 1999 and up. Any suggestions. I would still like to replace the pins and bushing on the upper hinge. As is all I did was adjust the hinge to take up the slop so the door closed correctly.
Thanks in advance.

The 94-98 Mustangs do not have the pins and bushings. They are one piece that has to be replaced. No parts that can be replaced/repaired.
You know a million times more than me in regards to our cars, so I'll wait to hear from you. I don't have a clue to tell you the truth, but I do have 2 new hinges here in a box to go on the car.

You can ONLY get them from Ford, and ONLY if you can find a competent parts man, and most likely all you need is a set of bushings, 8 total. Another option is using a dorman kit and slightly drilling out the bushing hole so that the larger Fox bushing fits. The hole needs to be about 31/64's, NO LARGER, and it will work perfectly.

I found them for about $7 on amazon

Ryan,
I did check at a Ford dealership for the pins and bushings and they told me that they were not available. That is why I ended up buying the hinges instead. I also checked with Advance Auto and they could not get the pins and bushings either. I will try a different dealership for the pins and bushings to see what happens.
Thanks,
