what kind of weight reductions can I do to my car? I know i can take out the back seats, but i want to lighten her up, she weighs a ton... 2 actually. I was going to call ford and ask for their opinion, but i want to hear what u guys have to say. I havent removed anything yet.

 

You can do a number of other things over the back seat. Removing door panels (it's VERY ugly though). You can remove the A/C completely. It'll add power and lighten her up plenty. You can remove passenger seat/airbag as well. Removing stereo equipment helps as well.

The only thing you should ever do for a street car is the A/C. Cause you might have an extra passenger every now and then, and you can't lose a stereo!!!

 

giving up my system is definately not an option. A/C.... prolly sounds good now, but on those hot *** days i know i will be swearin, esecially those hot *** days that it rains... airbag... couldnt do it... door panels? hell no, i am trying to make her look good, not look like a civic

 

you could go on atkins and lose a couple pounds.

 

Smokin ice will get him there faster.

 

You could always get a new fiberglass hood, fenders and trunk.

 

get some lightweight rims to =D those are always a plus.

 

The best way to reduce your cars weight without destroying your interior or suffering because you have no air conditioning is to remove your back seats. You can leave this open if you like, but I would put a rear seat delete kit in. Second remove those heavy stock seats and add in a pair of racing seats. Racing seat weigh between 15 and 30 pounds depending on the type and they also look great and offer better leg support; this upgrade does cost a little money. About $200 for a set of cheapies to $1000 for the top of the line models like Cobra or Sparco. The last thing I would do, this is optional because in some states this is ileagal, I would remove the spare tire. The spare doesn't weigh that much, but it does allow for a slight weight loss, and also offers a little more room if you want to add a custom sterio system.

 

the easiest way to remove weight is a rear seat delete and removing the trunk interior. don't remove the spare tire, you will need it as soon as you do.

 

well my back seats are now out and the fiberglass box has replaced its place. i will be removing the spare tire tomorrow. my old boxes weighed a ton, they weighed a lot more then what i thought. I made a custom fiberglass box where the back seat sat. the dimensions are perfect for my subs and the box obviously weighs a hell of a lot less then my 2 huge wooden ones.
