I'm done messing around with the V6. I have one last car show in about a month. In the time before then, I'll be ironing out the last issues with the sound system (terrible, shrill whine, what is it?) and repainting the car (it looks bad, rock chips all over and the clearcoat is literally FALLING off of the spoiler). There won't be anymore modifying done, probably not even cutting the springs like I planned, since I don't want to get new suspension. The plan is to immediately look for a buyer after (maybe during) the show, and get rid of it.

Then, my plan is to pick up an 01-04 GT or 03-04 Mach 1. The problem with this is the fact that I need to get one of those for the selling price of my V6. Mustangs sell high here (I've mentioned sixxers hitting $8k before) and I'll likely shoot for $6800. Of course, this means GTs and Mach 1s sell high as well.

So, if you're reading this, my question is: how much do average (under 100k miles) GT and Mach 1 Mustangs cost where you are? I'll travel all the way across the US for one if I can get it for a decent price. Southern Florida looks like a good place to start, since an 03 GT there, with 80K miles only costs around $6500. Are they cheaper where you live? Let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. And if you haven't noticed, I'm almost ruling the Mach out as a possibility, since I'll be low on cash. BTW, the Challenger is still in the picture, but not for about 2 years. I just feel it's time for an upgrade.

If you buy from a private seller youre price will be lower and maybe a little more negotiable, but some people may not back off their price too much because it may be as low as they want to go.

An Mach 1 is valued at roughly $15,000 and that's about what 2 are selling for around here. One is a little cheaper but was in pretty rough condition when it was brought in the dealership fixed it up, but it was still beat up by the previous owner he's asking $14,500 for that one with 90k on it.

A GT is valued at about $10,000 and we don't have any for sale around here for me to base my price off of, but the ones I've seen sold between $8500-11000.

I'm in Louisiana so our values will be semi close to yours.

An 99/01 Cobra will sell for between $9500-13,000 depending on millage and condition.

Also keep in mind the prices I listed are for cars in good-excellent condition and also for private sale, not retail prices however if you're a good negotiator you can get a dealership to these prices and sometimes lower.

Feel free to look at SN-95 cobras/gt's as well because they are much cheaper, granted not as nice as the new ones but I mean you could pick one up for under 8,000 all day

Man, you guys to the east have some really HIGH prices for Mustangs. Out here in CA, I see Gt's for 6-8k all the time. Mach's are going for 10-12(sometimes higher if really low miles) and 04 Cobras anywhere from 15-20 depending on mileage and other variables. Paying 10-12k for a GT(99-04) out here is UNHEARD OF. You can get a clean a$$ 01 Cobra for that amount of coin.

$6-8k GT's here too. There's a white 03 for $7900 with 76k miles.

I don't understand why you seem to be blaming the engine for mistreatment of the paint. You have improperly installed your audio, redo the ground and put in a ground lope isolator if it continues. Don't ghetto the suspension, roush springs go for 99$$ on ebay and shocks and struts are cheap to replace. These are fantastic engines and vehicles, no need to waist money on a GT or anything else.

In Chattanooga TN a GT will go for around 9k - 12k. I paid $6400 for my V6

Lol, I woke up, read this, and my day was made. Damn V6, ruining my paint...

No, I wasn't blaming the motor for the poor quality of the paint. That's Ford's fault on the spoiler. I wash, wax, polish and otherwise maintain the car quite well, but in the country, rock chips just happen.

And no, I DID NOT INSTALL THE SOUND SYSTEM INCORRECTLY. OR AT ALL. CAPS LOCK RAGE (ok I'm done). Yes, it needs a noise suppressor, as the noise seems to be feedback from the alternator. The subs need a new cap-cell and strobes, and on and on.

Also, I'M NOT DOING ANYTHING TO THE SUSPENSION (guess I wasn't done). Let alone ghettoing it up. And a GT isn't a waste, it's an [redacted -insert other enraging word here instead].

EDIT: Thanks to everyone for responses. Mustangs seem to come in two varieties; reasonable or way too expensive. I'll just have to go south...or southwest.
