Default Help With Potential Purchase

New to the forums. So please forgive me of any indiscretions. I'm severely in need of some qualified feedback on a potential purchase. So you know, my names Thomas and I've owned only one other Mustang. A 1990 4 cylinder that I purchased for around twelve hundred dollars and ran for five years.

The car in question is a 2002 Mustang v6 with 148k miles. The exterior is in excellent condition minus the rear spoiler and a crack in the windshield. Interior wise it's fine. It starts easily and seems to idles without showing any issues. All the fluid levels seem good and there were no leaks under the car. No burnt oil or trans fluid. They're asking 3200. I plan to drive it today but would like you guys to chime in on the car vs mileage vs price etc.

I appreciate any help you guys provide and will post pics if get the car.

Seems like a very fair price if it's pretty good shape. The thing I'd look for the the typical V6 Mustang exhaust leak from a cracked manifold on the passanger side. The AC tends to drip there. Cold fluid on hot metal causes a crack in a lot of these cars.

If treated right, these cars will out last the owners.

Not a bad deal, without seeing it my first thought before I read the price was around $2500 so if it is really clean inside and out $3200 isn't bad.

That could be some hard miles. check the front end for play, see if the tailpipe has a lot of wet black oil burnt soot. check the floor pans for wetness and make sure there is no moisture bubbles in the oil. $2700 tops. good luck

Well, I wasn't able to go through with it. Once in the car it had some obvious problems. There was a loud/constant metal against metal squeak that I'm assuming is some sort of shock or strut issue. It also seemed to have the exhaust leak lilroush mentioned. The thing that worried me the most was when I decided to get it going out on the expressway. It just started to shimmy and shake so bad I felt like it would fly apart at the seam. I never got it past sixty and decided to look elsewhere.

I did find a car however. I stayed in the ford family at least and ended up with a 97 thunderbird lx. I've got to say for the price, mileage, and shape it was the best thing I had test drove in a week. It's the 3.8l v6 with 116k miles. It drove smooth, light, and shifted like a breeze. It has pearl white paint and a nice body. It also has a dove grey leather interior. Very nice and bought for only 2600. Here's a pic:
