1999 V6 Oil pump ?
OK I bought this V6 and it's a nice little car.
But I got some questions, I have 0 experience with the Mustang.
The car has 131k on the clock, the trans is wicked tight, chirps 2nd and 3rd.
The oil presure gauge works and sometimes when sitting at idle the gauge will read 0 presure if I bring up the rpm just a touch it fires the gauge right back up.
Is this normal for this car?
also the car has lotsof new parts including the PS Pump.
The Pump constantly wines is this normal?
The gas tank where the filler tube goes in had the o ring replaced already but still get a mild gas oder.

I havnt ever heard of one of these oil pumps going bad without some major noise, the gearator gears are pretty damn large and the hex shaft is thick.
You might have bad bearings, thats typical to have low or no oil pressure at idle but comes back up when you give it some gas.
If you had bad bearings you would heat it as an audible knocking or tapping sound.
You also will want to change out the oil pressure sending unit as that could be bad and not reading correctly.
For the PS pump to be new and whining already, I would take it back in and get another.
They do whine though, its just their nature.
When one goes out you will know, you wont be able to turn the thing worth a crap.
but still, if its a recent purchase there will be a warranty on it and you should thinking about exchanging it.
Now onto the gas odor, if you still smell gas then the ring is probably damaged or failed again. I would not take their word for it.
You should be able to see where its leaking, it will be dark.
Hope that helps.
