Default Power Port

So I just noticed my power port in the center console isn't working, does anyone have any suggestions on what this could be? Also if someone can point me towards a "how to" on opening up the console to be able to check the connections behind the port that would be GREATLY appreciated.

THANKS Matt, that's a great write up. Quick question before I open everything up, I have a V6 and I believe the fog lights were added aftermarket, I pulled out the power port and it wasn't connected to anything (so that's obviously why there was no power lol) but looking through the opening I couldn't see any wires that it would plug into so my question is this (sorry if this is stupid) when they wired the fog light switch in is there any reason they may have removed the receptacle for the power port?

If I remember correctly 94 and 95 were the only years they put the convertable and foglight wiring in place no matter if it was a coupe, or a V6. After that they (Ford) didnt run the wires because it cost money and there was no need to have foglight wiring on a V6 (as it didnt have foglights). I would have to see a pic of the underside of your console to know exactly what you are talking about. If you do have aftermarket foglights that work on the OEM foglight switch it is possible whoever installed the kit might have taken the power from the "power receptacle" and used it for the foglights. Or they simply pulled of the wire by accident.

My 97 has the foglight and vert wiring, so they were still doing it then.

Did you check the fuse box? My girlies power plug/cigarette lighter didn't work and it turned out to be a blown fuse.
