Default LSD conversion questions

Hello, So I am thinking of converting my cars rear differential but Im curious as to the cheapest or easiest way to do. Ive done a bit of research and looked into getting the 7.5in Ford Racing LSD from American Muscle, however Im not sure of the labor charge or difficulty of doing it myself. My friends have told me to scavenge the rear end of GT and just drop my differential and put that in, but I dont know the complications with that. So does anyone have some advice they can give me on this matter?

The price of installing the tlock is probably going to run you anywhere from $200-600 depending on your area and who you know. However for that you could spend another $100-200 and get some gears (3.73's or 4.10's) which will improve the cars acceleration. The 7.5 tlock has been broken by members at stock and near stock power levels so if you are planing on racing or anything I would say look into a stronger 7.5 lsd or the stock 8.8 from a GT. I found a couple stock 8.8s around me for $300-400 and they swap right out in place of your old 7.5 as long as they are from a 99-04 and it will have a stronger tlock already in place.

ive broke one on each

also broken one of these on a stock mach 1 power as well but sticky tires

unless you can get a deal on a recently rebuilt 8.8 get a detroit true trac, and a bearing kit/gears, drivetrainspecialists.com has the DTT or you can find them on ebay, american muscle has motive gears and bering kits

Thanks for the advice, good to know you can break the tlock with close to stock power. Also if looking at the DTT, should I get it 7.5"in or 8.8"in, or does it not matter? Im not really well versed with knowledge on differentials....
