In an auto I know when you get into it it downshifts but is there any mod i could get to shorten or get rid of that pause

 

Shift kit.

 

^ yeah, I've heard a shift kit does wonders for that. That "pause" annoys me as well.

 

you could also get a tuner such as the predator , diablo, or X-Caliber those all short and stiffen the shift and could help out with more then just the shift with the air and make ur car more sensitive to mods. its only like 400 new which would be cheaper then gettin the shift kit and gettin it installed and it would help more then just the shift so u get more also. You can also take out the rev limiter.

 

I have a shift kit and a custom chip. a 99+ transmission does't really need a shift kit. I did mine before my chip and waisted my money. The new programmers do EVERYTHING you can ask for.

 

So i need a chip and a tuner or just a chip?

 

one or the other. I have a chip because they didn't have a programmer when I got mine. But the programmer is much better and more versatile. It's a toss up between the Super chip SCT and the Diablo. They both have some cool features. The SCT is cool because you can change to a pre set program on the fly which is great when your running nitrous or taking a long trip and want to use low octane fuel to save a few bucks.
