How much money will it take to make my stock v6 as fast as my roommate's civic?
Here's his car:

Mine is just a stock 01 v6.
He claims he ****s on v6s and GTs. He also claims he can keep neck and neck with Cobras. Is he full of it or could it be true?

Did he get it tuned? In that post he said he needs to get it tuned. If he didn't you could win now, cause his car will run like **** with boost applied.
Hard to say how much because know one knows any idea what brand of parts and if used/new? But I would start with gears, if its auto get 4.10's if manual I would say 3.73's and def. a T-lok while ur at it. Next a CAI like from MAC or BBK. Then Underdrive pulley's and finally true duals to finish it up. Thats some stuff thats not way out there in $$ like s/c and turbos that will def. help you.
I am no pro at ricer **** but the fact that he says he can keep neck to neck with a cobra is prolly bull****. It would take ALOT of doings on a popcorner to make that much hp and or tq.
Just make your V6 quicker and you'll beat him. V6 Stangs are commuter cars. Designed for freeway driving. Keep in mind you have a 3.8 ltr engine. It's all in the way it's set up.

Nice vert! I just dropped mine 2" too. I'm waiting for my rear wheel spacers so it will look right in the back.

Ok. A D16z6 swap which is from a 92-95 Civic EX/Si, 125 hp to start. I really need to know what other corresponding modifications he's done to it along with that t3/to4e & FMIC and how much boost he's pushing through. I'd say 6-7 psi; With that said, I'd venture to say he's somewhere in the low 14s putting down about 160-170 to the wheels. I don't know why he didn't hold out for a B series swap and start with at least 160 horses.
Oops... to answer your original question:
Intake, plenum, throttle body, full exhaust and headers along with 3.73, 3.90, or 4.10 gears would probably give you a good boost down to the times he's probably getting.
