Default '93 LX 4 Cylinder 2.3L

What's up everyone?

Right now I am just looking for a ride thats good on gas. I found a 93 LX 2.3L 4 cylinder 5 speed. Its in good condition and a great price. I was wondering about the 8 spark plug thing. Why does that car have 2 spark plugs per cylinder? Did anything go wrong that year, and thats why they stopped with the 4 cylinder engines, or are those engines still decent? Does this car have any power at all, even with the 5 speed manual transmission?

Thanks.

the 2 per cylinder is just to burn the fuel better i guess, not sure. nothing went wrong that year, they just quit the 4 bangers cause if they put them in the 94+ the car couldn't get out of its own way. and you must not have driven it yet cause it's pretty slow, but at least the 5 speed makes up for some of that.

Nope, I haven't driven one yet. Yeah, the body of the 94+ plus is way too big and heavy for the 4 cylinder engine.

Not really, I am going to look at it tomorrow. The ad didn't give the mileage but from the picture the exterior looks like its in good condition. It is a nasty color though, that dark teal. I haven't seen the interior yet and the ad didn't even say what color cloth it was, or if it was leather. Can those 4 cylinder LX's have leather? Its at a dealer, which is good. And they are asking $1500. I can probably get them a little lower, or atleast out the door for $1500. By the way, this is my first car, so thats why I need a 4 cylinder for gas mileage. Later on, if the body is good, I am going to drop a brand new 5.0 engine in there. =)

I have a '93 mustang 2.3l with 227+ thousand miles on it. And it has decent power, but it's definitaly not the best.

86 2.3L it had torque but as for go power, none. swap in an SVO or Merkur XR4Ti engine and you'll be good to go. after all the 86 SVO did make 5 more horse than the 5.0L =D

How much would an SVO engine cost? BTW, what exactly does SVO stand for?

Also, is it possible to put a good dual exhaust sytem on the 2.3L 4 cylinder? How much would it cost?
