Default tinted headlights

i have a 2001 mustang and want to tint the headlights and was wondering if tinting them would affect the lighting. i have 6000k hids also and not really sure if tinting them would be a good idea or not. can someone help me out?

Depends. It will dim them down a bit, and some law enforcement officers will like to single you out for the mod. Technically, it's illegal.

Tint will darken it but not a ton. I use lamin-x on mine and it darkened it about 10% and I have the darkest style tint. If you use a plastic blackout style cover, it will reduce the light a lot, 40 to 50%.

Any type of tent on your headlights in Texas is illegal. I don'y have any experience with them. I did however have some custom headlamp cases for my old camaro that had a black casing inside instead of chrome and I could not see anything even with the HID kit.

I have the stock housings and was thinking of tinting them but didn't want to reduce the output of my hids so I'm not sure what to do

Hi, I have smoked my headlights to a dark, dark colour (used stupid VHT) and I have 30000k HIDs, but I still get pretty decent lighting, obviously not nearly as good as without the smoked headlights, but I just couldn't resist, heres a picture with the HIDs on.

Ive had tinted headlights for almost 2 years now and Ive NEVER been pulled over.

I used Silverstar Ultras and have no problems with light output.

you can just go with some lightly smoked vinyl tint and see how that works. pretty cheap on ebay
or you can tint just part of the headlight
