brake question
The other day my passenger side rear brake seized up and I had to get a replacement. I noticed that when I come to a stop that there is smoke coming from the brake.
My question is what could be causing the smoking? Could it be from where fluid is dripping down? Thanks. |
Pad burning off. A locked caliper can make discs HOT HOT HOT.

What would cause the pad to burn off? Its a new replacement caliper I got and only had it for a few days?
|
I mean what would cause the new caliper to lock up?
|
Ah, I read that as the original caliper locked up and smoked. My bad.
A new disc could have oil on it that might smoke off. Could also be the parking brake cable too tight, and holding the pad against the disc. |
if you didnt clean the rotor with brake clean before you installed it, i would say its just the anti rust oil burning off... its only when you come to a stop right? not when your driving?
|
It has developped a slight squeeking sound while I'm driving. It goes away when I mashe the brake pedal tho.
What could be the cause of this? |
