Does anybody know where I can get a center piece that has cup holders instead of an ashtray that doesnt look like crap for a 1996 Mustang?

 

you mean that dinky little cupholder that pops out of the console isn't good enough?!?!

I didn't see any full replacements for the ashtray though. let me know if you find one, I might switch mine if I find it.

 

If you can manage to find a cup holder out of a later model mustang you can remove the ashtray and cover assembly from your current console. Then you'll need to cut out a little of the plastic tabs and what not on the inside, a dremmel will work with a cutting bit. Then just put the new one in place.

 

Find a matching color center console out of a 99-04

 

+1 to what green232 said. you can usually find them on e-bay.

 

Even check a junk yard..see if you can't find one in good shape..

'98 has the newer style cup holder as well.

 

can't promise anything but I'm going to a junk yard Monday to look at a couple Mustangs. I one has a console I'll let you know.
