It's not going to work and here's why...

On the stock mustang gauges, the numbers are actually holes with a green film over them. There are lights in the gauge cluster that shine through the green film and make the numbers appear green.

Our (because I have the reverse glo too) Reverse Glow Gauges do not have holes where the numbers are. They have pre-printed numbers and have built in illumination to produce the color effect. Therefore, no matter what LEDs you put in the cluster, they will not shine through.

His cluster is a (don't remember the brand) cluster which is built similar to the stock black (cutouts for the numbers) however, they happen to be white.

Finally, (I'm not sure about your year) but my 2002 stock black gauges have a green film over them, so even with different LEDs the color will be a strange greenish mix. It is suggest in several places to remove the green film on the back (some people use sandpaper) in order to have the LEDs shine through the color you want.

I did this not too long ago. Wired it into the overhead light so they turn on when I open the door.

Syracuse315.
I have these already in my car wired up to a switch that turns them on only when I flip the switch.

I have a convertible so the map lights are what turn on in my care when I open the door. However, I don't see any wires to the RV mirror obviously. Can this be done to work on my setup?

Hmmm. Ok, so if I want to have the faces white I'll have to get a new reverse glow overlay or buy a new cluster that is already white. Also if I want to keep my cluster and put in new LEDs I'd have to some how scrap off the green film. Ok that's some good info that I can work with. This is just a thought, and I know it may spound crazy, but maybe there is a way I could spray my current cluster to change it to white? I know it'd be risky but maybe.....

Not familiar with the verts, you're saying the lights are on the RV mirror? There has to be a wire coming from the mirror somewhere, I'm guessing you'd be able to tap into it in one of the front pillars (not sure what side).

Don't get reverse glow. These are typically preglow. You want something like a steeda or simco

So here's a few things I found in my tron-like world...

The faceplate of the HVAC unit also has the green film behind it. It has 5 clips on the bottom and 5 clips on the top just to remove...looks more secure than anything else on the car so I'm not bothering with it tonight.

Also, cool White LEDs look just that...white. Not so much blue (the 99-01 must've had a blue film to make it appear blue.) Anyways. I decided to order extra to switch out what's going on in the foglight/defogger/tracoff switches...

These are NOT the same LEDs (godamnit I ordered like $30 extra.) This is what I found. Can anyone help with the direction for converting these to blue?

I tried pulling them out, but the copper wiring is attached to the bulb.

No amount of colored lights will make a tired and aged interior look better.

IMO, a nice charcoal Cobra swap would be a great idea.
I am talking EVERYTHING from carpet to seat belts to seats.

My wife just finished a Mach 1 interior swap on her 96' that replaced everything and the dash is last on her list to swap but she has the cluseter and air bags, we just couldnt find a perfect dash before we moved.

Anyways, a very clean interior will accent the car better than any lights can.

Neo, I decided to do a full-on black interior swap... Looks like for everything including seats it's gonna run a little over $2k. How much did your wife end up spending?

Also...

For anyone interested...
