Supercharger for V6

Dude if its stock power your looking for then I recomend the camero, but if its looks, style, saftey, and mod options then by all means pick the mustang. I have a 98 myself and even though it isn't the fastest thing out there it can hold its own. Now on to the supercharger. Dude don't do it. You will gain a great deal of horse power, anywhere between 50 and 75 more horses. The problem is that turbo kits are really expensive, ranging from 1500 to 3000+ dollars. Not including installation. Do you know how much you could do to your car with that much money. You could replace your intire air intake redue your heads, add a pulley kit, and possibly redue your exhaust. Also some turbo kits only kick in at certain rpm levels. So no I do not recomend this upgrade. If you want to do it later thats alright, but I wouldn't recommend right off the bat.

OK let me clearafy myself. Superchargers and turbochargers will significantly increase a cars hp. But after all the cost are included, to me its not worth it. You not only have to buy the kit, but will probably have to pay somebody to install, put high flow 42lb fuel injectors on your engine to equalize your new fuel to air mixture, pay more times at the pump, and will have to add a true dual exhaust system to allow the engine to fully breath. You also take the risk of putting extra stress on an old engine. To me, in the end, for just regular street use, its just not worth all the cost.
if you want to play, you have to pay.
besides, most KITS you buy, you get the injectors, fuel pump, everything you'll ever need to make it run safely. you'll have to run F/I sooner or later, and you'll be paying more at the pump when doing so. a lot of people get a diablo or SCT to tune their car with, having to use premium gas anyway. boltons can only take you so far.
besides, with a centrifugal supercharger or turbo, you're not in boost til about 3000RPM, which means you're not really using much more fuel than when you didn't have the supercharger.

I personally would go with the supercharger, but thats my opinion. But which ever one you choose to go for i would probably go ahead and replace the internals if the have the cash just because the block may be able to handle the power and so will the internals for a little while but it wont take long until you blow the motor and loose that block. So i would first off go and put all forged internals in and then go with the supercharger. Replacing internals will save you money in the long run. But thats just me.
btw, when you said 1988 you could have ment earlier because they did have v6's earlier that 3.8 just like the new ones and i'm not sure if they came with superchargers factory but i do know that thunderbirds could have gotten a 3.8 v6 w/ supercharger from the factory in the mid 80's.
