Question Cold air intakes

I've been trying to find cold air intakes for my 1996 v6 mustang but wherever I search, all I seem to find are ones for '96 GT, will it still fit in right even though mine isn't a GT?

nope, will not fit, you have to get the V6 intake.

Several companies have CAI's for that year, but American Muscle is probably the cheapest coming in at just $65 dollars.

Before you drop that $170, there are a couple different options that could save you money.

1) Take the stock snorkle (plastic that goes from your current air filter to your wheel well) off and put in a K&N filter. The filter will be around $50 and from what other have said it will do the same job as a traditional CAI.

2) Buy the cheaper $75 generic American Muscle CAI. It gets the job done and is much easier on the wallet. {Linked above by NeoTokyo}

3) Go with BBK, it is the best looking of all the options. IMHO I can't justify this option over the others. Just my 2 cents.

Hope that helps, good luck.

btw, when we put a CAI on a stock 96' (also bbk) the only thing it did was make the exhaust sound a little better and you get a little whistle sound from the inatke.

The butt test didnt feel any gains.

I think you might be disappointed after dropping $170 on your BBK...

$65 from American Muscle is a lot better value and you get the same exact thing, its just not as flashy.
