Problem :l
Have A problem. I own a 3.6L v6 AUTOMATIC mustang. and when i drive it i can let go of the gas pedal but my acceleration wont go down at all until i brake. need help! im sick of riding the brake. SICK OF THIS PROBLEM!!! HELP!
Ok so what exactly is the problem here. Are the RPMs "hanging" staying up even after you let off the gas? Does the engine surge at all? Need more info, because I've owned quite a few Mustangs and I've never noticed a "problem". Mustangs do coast fairly well after you let off the gas, just the way they're designed, if this is what's happening it's normal.
Forget the mph for a second. If you are sitting in park or neutral and you rev the engine. Does the rpms go back down? Also, what are the rpms at idle?
when i start my car my rpms go to 2000 then after a minute its goes down to 1000.. When i rev it, it goes down to 1000. and sometimes when im driving it'll high idles past 2000 but my MPH wont go up and then it has a little kick and my idle goes back to normal and mph does also. like if it slips. It only high idles when im stop at a red light
By your description I am thinking that your throttle linkage is sticking.

You mentioned that it only high idles when at a stop light. Have you tried shifting to neutral when this happens?
