Default getting frustrated

i have a 2001 3.8lt v6, random my car would not start i had a mechanic tell me it was the fuel pump. so i got a new pump and replaced it and it still wont start, and when i check the pressure in my fuel line only a few drops of gas come out. so i am lost, this is my first time i have switched a fuel pump and not sure what to do next. any help or tips would be appreciated thank you
