Default exhaust question

hey guys, ive been lurking on this forum for a while now but it looks like i may be getting a 99-04 v6 mustang soon. ive heard alot about these flowmaster 40 series kits but have yet to hear them(the sticky up top has maxed on on its bandwith). now, i really wanted a v8 but my parents wont let me so im goin to get the loudest exhaust possible for the v6. my first question in where are you guys buying your flowmaster kits from. my next one is does anyone recommend a good set of headers? also, has any one on here have headers, hi flow cats, and mandel bent exhaust into borla mufflers? im thinking that may be the loudest way. what size piping do you guys recommend, 2.5 or 3? anyways, sorry for the newb questions but i appreciate all the responses.

EDIT: what about the magnaflow kits and the pypes kits and the borla kits?

most people don't buy flowmaster kits. you buy a GT take-off from ebay for $50-$100 and some flowmaster mufflers and have an exhaust shop put all that on for you. most people here have reported about $100 for the installation. also, instead of flowmasters, there's plenty of flowmaster knock-off brands that give you the same exact sound, same exact muffler for a lot cheaper.

loudest is not always the best. you don't want to go TOO loud on a v6 or it starts sounding like rice. by loud i mean loudmouth or magnapack loud. a lot of people go with the flowmasters because it's one of the loudest & deepest mufflers that give you that kind of throaty v8 sound.

by loud i meant deep/throaty like a v8. i was thinking of buying borla mufflers and have a shop hook up some pipes.

you're not going to sound like a loud v8. dual flowmasters will make you sound pretty much like a stock GT.

i would go with 2.5 inch pipe dont need more than that for a 6er its just a waste unless you have a very highly modified motor.

Yup, the Pypes ProV is like the super 40's. They have a pretty deep sound. At like 3500 rpm they start to get high pitched, but all mufflers do with a V6. They really do sound like a V8 at cruising speeds.

um whoever told you the borla sounds like rice is completely deaf. I have borlas and there is NOTHING like them. I had flowmasters and went to a borla side exhaust kit and would never go back...they are deep and aggressive, let alone they are SS which will last longer than your car and probably YOU!

2.5" piping is NOT needed unless you are going to go with a power adder. 2.25" is sufficient if you are doing bolt ons. If you get 2.5" piping and do not get a power adder you actually LOSE tq....and incase you dont know..TQ is what makes you GO...HP is what makes you go faster (we all want more tq)

Thus why I always recommend the lowly GT takeoff when doing a dual conversion. The 2 1/4" diameter pipes are more than adequate, the price is good, and the sound is good.
