why did you remove the intake ? also what happen to the injectors? did you check all the vaccum lines before doing the intake? how about the IAC. when you state surging. when does it happen?

my intake was completely gummed up and my butterflies could hardly move and i rebuilt my injectors thinking they were clogged and thats what could have caused the surging but now that they are rebuilt and put back and everything put back together i test drove it today and found the surge to be a much harder surge then before

I agree 100% that it's a vacuum problem my '02 had a 4 inch long crack on the bottom side of the main vacuum line, only reason I found it was I read some service bulletins that were for a 4.6 van that said to put clams on the hose connections. While I was doing this I felt the hose and turned it over to see that crack which was not showing up on my check engine codes nor was my scan tool showing anything wrong.

clams are way to hard to keep in place, plus it's hard to find the ones that are trained to hold hoses in place on your engine.

Plus they take only so much heat before they collapse completely.
