Default Please help!!!

This has been a disaster of a project. Broke a bolt in thermostat housing and had to take apart the manifold to drill it out. Had a foot of snow, broke the extractor off into the bolt, took a week to get the manifold back from the shop, and now car isn't running properly. Oh, and at some point during this process i ran over a screw and now have to buy tires.

The car will start fine, but once it idles for a few second it start to sputter. It sometimes dies, but usually just sputters and eventually will return back to normal, and then a few seconds later will start to sputter again. It just continues this cycle. there seems to be a lot of moisture coming out of the tail pipe also.

I went to oreillys to try and get a code scanner to pull a code bc i have a check engine light on and they said the car has to be on the lot. But i can buy one for $70. Don't have money bc i need new tires now.

I think i may have crossed up a few lines going into the manifold. I attached a few pics, can someone tell me if they are correct.

The first picture is from the back of the manifold. There is three connections. The top one is correct, it is the bottom two that may be causing my problem. I have each of the picture labeled. Number connects with number 1 and 2 connects with number two.

I think the picture labeled number 1 is my fuel pressure regulator. Not sure what number two is but labeled it with duck tape so i know it connects with the manifold. Just not sure if i have it in the correct spot.

Please help!!!!

Sorry about your bad luck, All I can see is you may want to replace some lines that look damaged. The can cause vacuum leaks which in turn can cause issues with idle. Other then that clean the IAC and MAF. Some others that know more about your year engine design and egr systems can chime in. I personally do not run the egr, more problems then help.

That hose you have labeled #2 is rotted and needs to be replaced.

Have codes P0402 and P0174. Wasn't throwing any codes before. Rotten hoses wouldn't all of a sudden start throwing these codes, would they?

If you've moved them around to where a crack or hole is now opened up yes.

Like Daehawk said you disturbed them. That hose is extremely rotted, it could be a huge vacuum leak. You need to change out all the hoses that look like that one. Hoses are cheap.

damn hope it all works out soon. This is why I stopped working on cars myself, with me its much better to pay our good mechanic to do everything, rather than to try myself, mess it up and break something that was working fine even...*shudders*

it seems when i turn on the car and let it idle it is fine. But if i step on the gas at all and let it return to idling it dies. Thinking about replacing the egr valve. Unless anybody has any other ideas.
