Default Bumper Switchout (Help needed)

All right, needed to replace the front bumper for my 2004 Mustang (V6, 40th anniversary) so I got a new one, and had it painted. Went to install it today and realized (I believe) it's for the GT, so needing to know if I can use this bumper or not. I see the grille appears to be different but I'm having an issue with where it affixes to the fender, splash guard area my original bumper has several small tabs that you use pop rivets with and a metal plate (http://www.ebay.com/itm/321142641500...84.m1497.l2649 labeled as bumper cover guide bracket). The issue I have is the new bumper cover I have does not have the tabs needed for the bumper cover guide bracket to attach to. It looks like the seller sent me the GT model for the same year bumper cover and I initially thought the spots for the fog lights were no big deal, we could wire in fog lights but now it almost doesn't look like it can replace my original at all. But just need some help.

A GT bumper is just a v6 bumper with the holes cut out for the fogs (same bumper), sounds like you got an aftermarket or reproduction bumper. They usually require a bit of work to install.

There are bolts under the fender where the bumper attaches, reach high in the fender

He's already got it off that's not the problem. The problem is the new bumper is a cheap replacement not OEM. They usually don't have all the correct mounting points.

^^^ exactly.
just fab up a metal plate, drill it ,push some bolts thru and call it good.
i had a similar issue. i bought a used bumper and seller stripped the mounting hardware so i had to make something up...not hard to do.

The plastic flap that the metal hardware bolts/rivets/whatever to is missing on his bumper. He has nothing to mount the hardware to that's his problem.

If I understand what you are saying you are going to have to improvise and make mounts to the car and the bumper there is no other way your second option is try to sell the bumper and find one that fits your going to lose money though
