There wasn't one in my 2008. I added one though.

$4 spring loaded push release switch from autozone and $3 in black wire.

On my 08 on the pass side there is a wire that when grounded trips the trunk open. One wire from the switch to ground and the other to the wire.

When the button switch is depressed it grounds the wire until you take your finger off. Since its spring loaded it only trips to ground momentarily.

I mounted the switch in the glove box and honestly it looks like it should have come from the factory that way.

AM sells a kit for the same thing, but DIY was 1/3 the cost.

Yes there should be. Open up your glove box and on the left hand side there should be a yellow button I believe is the color. Push it and you should hear the trunk pop.

Maybe it is dependent on the year then because mine did not have one.

94-04 its a yellow button on left inside glove box, they did not put a trunk release in the S197's. Sn95 (which is the forum section your in) had a switch, s197 (which is your car) did not.
